I caught fish from this pier!

In the years before an extensive network of paved roads criss-crossed the area, a fleet of small passenger steamers cruised the waters of Puget Sound. The “mosquito fleet” stopped at nearly every small town and large city on the Sound. Only a few stops remain, including the Indianola Pier at the small town of Indianola in northern Kitsap County. In 1926, the Kitsap Line started passenger and auto ferry service to the area with a Seattle-Indianola-Suquamish route. The route was discontinued in 1950, but the pier remains as a reminder of the service and as a quiet place for fishing Port Madison Bay for pile perch, sand dab, and sole. Visitors reach the pier at the end of rural Indianola Road, where they also find a hamlet with a general store.
