Not really family-friendly, but the view of downtown is sweet.

The Port of Seattle, formed in 1911 as a public entity, offers several opportunities for visitors and maritime enthusiasts to get close to port operations and ocean-going cargo vessels. The 15-acre Jack Block Park on the northern boundary of Terminal 5 on the extreme western edge of the port features interesting footbridges, walkways, public art, restrooms, stunning views of Seattle’s skyline, and a picnic and play area for children. Families can safely watch specialized equipment moving TEUs, the large metal containers used by 21st century deepwater cargo ships.

Other Port of Seattle parks include: Elliott Bay Park, with a view of grain terminal operations; Terminal 107 Park, the site of a former Duwamish Indian village; Jack Perry Park, with view access to large crane and US Coast Guard operations; and Terminal 105 Park, with a boat launch and a 50-foot fishing pier. For more information on locations of these parks, click here.
