Carving Cultural Connections

Carving Cultural Connections operates the Spirit of Peace, a Northwest Coast canoe construction project organized by Haida canoe carver Robert Peele, also called “Sanduuts” in the Haida language. As an educator, Peele wants to share his culture with people of all races and he uses canoe carving as a way to talk about spirituality, share his Native beliefs with songs and stories, and care for Mother Earth.
